OK, LJ, I need some advice.

This morning I was out for my morning job (or what some of you may call my morning brisk walk) and the last decent pair of headphones I have finally gave out, and I was stuck for over a mile with nothing to listen to but the sound of my own panting.

So now I am on the hunt for a new set.

I doubt the Shures are noise cancelling. More likely they are IEMs, which are noise isolating. Big difference. If you are going down that route, I'd take noice isolating over noise cancelling any day. (noise cancelling headphones are bit of a techno-scam. they block out less background noice, are no better for your ears, and the music quality isn't as good. thanks bose.) Be warned that they will save you on the plane, but they will probably kill you if you jog with them ( ... )

Man, those get amazing reviews. The prices are strange; all over the board. I found them from 129 to 299. Weird. I think that might be a awesome bet; although I don't have a noisy commute, I am about to sit in a much louder bank of cubes, and could use something to block out the noise.
