2:17: Millie

Running late again. It seemed to be par for the course right now. With the promise of seeing the Christmas village display and getting the cookie of her choice, Millie had talked Julia into not whining too much as they rushed to a few stores for some very last minute shopping.

She gripped Julia's hand more firmly in hers as they made their way through the crowd. Millie had completely forgotten that today was also the Christmas Bazaar and that Market Street would be utter madness. She leaned over and spoke softly into J's ear "Baby, stay close to Mama, and don't let go of my hand. There are a lot of people here, and I don’t want you to get lost.”

“Mama, are we almost to the village? I need a drink. I’m soooo, thirsty.” Julia drew the words out in extreme drama queen fashion her shoulder sagging in mock defeat, but thankfully she did not release Millie’s hand.

“Almost. It should be right around the corner there. I could use a drink too, tiger.” With this madness, maybe some Jack Daniels for the coke too. She ruffled Julia hair earning her the patented cheeky grin

As they rounded the final corner before the village, someone brushed past Millie causing her shopping bag to slip from her grasp. As she leaned over to retrieve it, her gaze never left the stranger as he continued on his way. An unconscious shiver ran up her spine. She didn’t actually recognize him, but had the strangest sensation that she should know who he was.
