"Emo" is short for "emotional". It is a term used for those who are depressed or emotionally unstable and desire something significant in their lives, such as love. Stereotypically, the emo kid cries a lot, likes sappy or emotional songs, has black hair and glasses, wears tight clothes, and thinks they're alone in the world because nobody cares about them. However, this stereotype has garbled the true meaning behind "emo" - that is, when someone is truely "emo", they tend to be suicidal or have suicidal thoughts. Nowadays, it's just a fad. (Not saying that Jimmy's a trendwhore or anything.)
