Thanks to everyone who gave me ideas. I'm still mulling but it's a great list of things, I really appreciate it, there's a lot I would never have thought about.

But dang, y'all are COSTLY people - good thing I'm not dating any of you!!!

Take him to the Russian River, maybe the Highlands Resort and let them know it is your anniversary. The place is nice and doesn't break the bank, has a hot tub, pool (both clothing optional), plus room for the portasling in the room. If you don't want to take him out to dinner, you can always BBQ right there :-)

You know, a picnic is cheap, and still considered romantic, especially with a bottle of wine and wine glasses

Sometimes if it is really inexpensive, locals just dont think about doing it. i know here in the NY area the worlds cheapest date is a FREE tour of the harbor. Locals call this the Staten Island Ferry. The next cheapest is an all day pass on the water taxi.

Just takes some imagination.

Also doing something he likes that You may find painful is also nice.

Yes, but doing something that throbbin finds painful is his idea of a good time. Remember who we're talking about here. :)

Something I know we enjoyed while we were there. We celebrated our engagement by going to the Mark Hopkins Intercontinental's bar up on the roof, called the "Top of the Mark". It's trendy, it's romantic, had great views, wonderful martinis, and yummy desserts.

Might be something?
