It's been a week since the election, and I still haven't managed to sort out all my feelings. I'm happy, I'm relieved, but mostly, I'm jealous. I'm jealous of the people who are able to whole-heartedly embrace what has happened, and, as a queer person, I can't help but feel left behind. Christ, yes, absolutely. It's depressing that people can unilaterally accuse African American communities of being homophobic but not logically think through that, even if that's true, there might be a reason why that homophobia was fostered.

I've seen a lot of knee-jerk reactions to Prop 8 on all sides of the issue, and I was sort of waiting to see what you were going to say. I want to thank you for , as always, having a well thought-out, well articulated reaction. Especially re: lateral oppression. So, really, thank you.

I'm thankful, too, that the Obama election comes with a national spotlight on Michelle Obama who is, in fact, a black woman from a working class family who does believe in gay rights.

Oh, believe me, I'm excited about THAT TOO. Oh, and her arms. And shoulders. I like that she wears sleeveless dresses, it's kind of a fuck-you to all the other political wives who are not NEARLY as toned.

regarding points a&b: i made a big ranty, loldramatic post about this here the second i got wind of who the queer community and general public were "blaming" for the outcome of this amendment. because, whaaaaat? seriously?
