Because I live with sparkymonster (the rockstar who has a del.icio. ( Read more... )

Thank you for posting this! I am indeed one of those people who's only heard tiny faint echoes and trickles of this mess on the fringes of my pocket-sized livejournaling and didn't know where/how it started. You provide a valuable service!

I'm glad! I didn't realize how many people weren't as immersed in it as I was, so there you go.

Thanks. Also, ugh, I share your feelings about FNL you made in your most recent post, I'd almost rather let it have its perfect ending, you know?

I totally know. I think there are interesting things to explore, and the way they ended this season, they could bring in a whole new team of kids (and hey, maybe they could have more than one CoC in a regular speaking role!), and that would be organic, it would work. But part of me just wants to let it go while I still have fond feelings.

I've been hearing about this for weeks, but it's turned from a trickle into a flood lately as it really hits. I was thinking about linking this post in my journal, if that would be all right.

And I think the timing of RaceFail supports my theory that there is a certain type of over-educated white person who likes to play devil's advocate on the internet. And this person thinks that now that the most recent presidential election has proven that racism in this country can't quite possibly be that bad, it's safe for them to share their convoluted pseudo-intellectual theories about the intersectionality of race and a marginalization that they themselves happened to have experienced.

Hallelujah, choir member, you sing beautifully! GOOD GOD.

All of this post, actually, reflects views I share with you (that's totally shocking, I know). I also hope that people who would otherwise never even think about any of this get some enlightenment. At the very least.

Seriously, man, Julia and I talk about this a lot. It's like, "I know it's good that your prejudice is being revealed so that you can be educated but I LIKED YOU ALL A LOT BETTER WHEN YOU WERE TOO AFRAID TO SHARE YOUR STUPID OPINIONS BECAUSE YOU WERE AFRAID THAT THEY WERE RACIST."

If you get a bunch of weirdos w/ bandom icons here, it could be do to my linking to this.

Who do you think she link drops while I'm trying to pirate media on the interwebs? There came a point where I actually almost started trolling but I took a pill instead.
