Today is 09-09-09. It's also my birthday. I'm turning twenty-seven, which is 9 times 3. Some things:

Happy birthday!

Oh man, that blog post about OSC is awesome -- and God, I knew he was a huge wretched homophobe, but I didn't know he thought gayness should be PROSECUTED. Wtf is wrong with him?????

I'm totally going to have to read those Mary Doria Russell books, those sound AWES. You had me at Jesuit Priests in Space.

Oh yay. I really liked the Sparrow and Children of God, and I don't know anyone else who's read them. Sadly I haven't liked anything she's written since as much.

Oh man, that sucks. I read the descriptions of her two other books and thought they didn't sound great but I was thinking of trying one of them anyway because I loved those two soooooooooooo much.

To be fair, I haven't read "Dreamers of the Day", but I found "A Thread of Grace" to be an entirely predictable WWII/Holocaust novel that lacked the spark of originality that made "The Sparrow" and "Children of God" so interesting and unexpected.
