25 Unicorn Street- Saturday morning

Apr 16, 2016 08:00

Kitty hadn't given much thought to what weekend it was, so it was just another morning when she finally got up. She went downstairs, put on some coffee and fed the dogs, and then stood at the counter to try and make the coffee brew faster with the power of her mind.

Yep, just your typical Saturday so far.

[For the husband, and tiny people!]

Clint stumbled downstairs not too long after, his hair still going in about four different directions as he followed the good smell. "Coffee?" he said coherently.

"It's happening," she promised, smiling as she looked over at him. "Aren't you adorable."

Clint made a humming noise and tried to flatten his hair, since Kitty had a different definition of adorable than he did. "Why can't we just make coffee instantly? Like, you hit a button and poof, immediate coffee?"

"I think in some places that's called a Keurig," she said, going to pull a couple of mugs out of the cabinet. "Otherwise... Who knows, I could always develop a coffee-related secondary mutation."

Lexi knew from last year not to go to Mom's apartment, so she went straight to the house after coming through the portal. She rang the bell.

And rang it again.

And once more, just in case they hadn't heard her.

Clint, now slightly caffeinated, went to open the door, and stared down at Lexi for a moment in surprise. Then the lightbulb went off.

"Right, prom was last night," he said, grinning. "Hey kiddo, how's it going?"

"Good!" she said, attacking him with a hug. "Did you miss me?"

"Of course I missed you!" he said, squeezing her in return. "You missed the fun by a few weeks. Your mom and I got hitched finally."

After Lexi's arrival, there was another tiny, polite knock on the door.

"You've got to knock harder or he might not hear us," Cooper said, knocking louder.

"I got it!" Lexi decided, opening the door before anyone could tell her not to. "Who're you?"

"I'm Lila," she said, pushing in front of Cooper because hey, new friend! "Who are you?"

"Lexi. Are you here to play?" It wasn't like other kids ever showed up here when she did, after all.

Chrissie didn't know why she knew to come here, she just did. And it was nice to be able to walk around and see things be all quiet and not run down, and it didn't even seem like she needed to hide from anyone. It was great.

Hopefully it was still great when she knocked on the door.

Clint was almost afraid to answer the door by this point, but here he was anyway, with a smile on his face. "Hi, can I help you?"

She had sort of expected her dad for some reason, but rallied pretty quick. "Um, hi! I was looking for my mom."

"And you came here, right. What's your name?" Clint asked.
