I had a joint visa with this guy I was living with about 5 years ago. We were quite poor. One day I noticed this $60 transaction that had shown up every six weeks or so for many months. Turns out it was a membership to the website "Grannies and Fatties dot com"

Yeah. No way I'll ever see that money again.

I'm fairly sure you're legally entitled to a full refund, quite possibly including interest. You can't be held accountable for your bank's screwup.

Actually it wasn't the bank, it was the internet company who forgot to actually "cancel" the account when I asked them too. Then again you could say it's my fault for not noticing a year ago... :/

After being put through to billing, I was prepared for a battle, but it didn't actually happen... They were pretty willing to look into the problem and fix it. :)
