Old stuff...

So Saturday was a day of two extremes... it started off really sad and ended up being incredibly fun.

That morning was the memorial service for Norm, Greg’s stepfather, and it was so sad. I didn’t even know the guy, and I was crying the whole time. I was sitting next to Dana at the service, and she was crying so hard the entire time. When Greg got up to speak, it was so hard to watch... he had to stop several times because he was trying so hard not to cry. It was really hard to watch/listen to, and Mai and I left very depressed, to say the least.

But...

Prom is happy!! I went to get ready at Kati’s house, and I spent almost 5 hours sewing my headband that I wore, but I loved it so it was worth it. Kati, Jerry and I went to go get Ryan, who looked super snazzy in his tux, and went to dinner. We were doing dinner and pictures at Claire’s church, which is huge. It was so funny... we got there and Ryan says “Glen Allen Church of Christ? This is Glen Allen Country Club of Christ!” There were all these cars there, and Jerry asked why there were so many people, and Ryan replied “Because Jesus is having a golf party.” It was so funny, hehe. After putting up with 45 minutes of paparazzi, we went to eat. We had chicken parmesean, veggie and meat lasagna, salad, mozarella sticks, etc. It was super yummy! Oh, and we had cheesecake for dessert.
After dinner, we headed over to Godwin for the dance... the gym looked AWESOME. It was absolutely gorgeous, I was so excited. And guess who came up with the theme?? Oh, that would be me. They ask for suggestions for themes on the prom committee applications, and my idea was “A Night on the Town.” Super cool. And we had an Ice Sculpture! Woohoo! The dance part was a lot of fun, I got to hang out with everyone, dance with pretty much everybody, act like a lesbian with Haley (for tradition’s sake... it started at all state choir) and yeah, I had a really good time.
After the dance we stopped by Kati’s to change/ eat golden wheat puffs cereal, and we looked at some of the digital pictures that her parents took, and then headed to the Y. It was an awesome after party!! There was a cool mechanical bull thing where you would sit on it and try not to get thrown off, and that was cool. And the bungee run thing, and the casino, and all that. Gaurav was a killer at the wheel gambling thing... he came up to talk to me and the woman handed him a bunch of tokens, and he put them all on two... just because. And then she spun the wheel and it landed on triple 2’s. And then he put all his stuff on 3... and spun triple 3’s. Same thing happened with 4’s. It was rediculous.
They had a money-catching machine last year, which was awesome... but by the time I played, almost all the money was gone, but I got one dollar. We also played the karaoke game for a while too, but not for 3 hours like last year. In the drawings, Mary A. won 100 dollars, Stephanie won dinner at Ruby Tuesday’s, a camera, flowers, and MY KARAOKE MACHINE. Grr. And Kati got a 600-some minute phone card so that she can call me every day from JMU. And Kelly won the Warped Tour tickets, and a $200 gift certificate to some dry-cleaners, and is going to sell it to her dad... smart move. And yeah, it was funny. True story.
But yes, prom was super fun. I got to hang out with lots of my friends and had a really good time. The end.
