Blogware

I'm strongly considering moving from pseudonymous to eponymous blogging.  (And, hopefully, upping the content at the same time.)  My impulse is that Wordpress is the best platform from which to accomplish this, but are there any other suggestions, or vouchings (is that a word?) for Wordpress?

Vouch vouch vouch vouch. I don't think a better solution exists.

I'd suggest paying for your own host and installing wordpress there as opposed to using wordpress.com, but it's more work. I use HostMonster.com and love them, and many people say many good things about Dreamhost.

Yeah, I'm trying to decide if I want to put the money down on a host before I know whether I'll commit to posting enough to justify it. On the other hand, if I decide that mid-stream, I'd have to switch, which would also be annoying. Hrm.

That's what I'm doing.

WordPress actually helps you through a lot of the switching process. Annoying, perhaps, but not a huge hassle.

Does it cause problems with redirecting people to the new host? Are you keeping the .wordpress.com domain?

I made the switch from Blogger to Wordpress two and a half years ago. I love it. LOVE IT.

Excellent! That's two votes for WP.

It'll be nice to have a proper blogroll, at least.
