I adore you, Amber. You are such a force of nature when you enter a room. You are smart, driven, and hilarious, and even though it doesn't seem like it right now, these things will serve you well in the world. Nobody likes where they are when they're 23--I know it's hard to believe that because you know a lot of overachievers who are off working in Washington or whatever, but you're only seeing a snapshot of their lives and that snapshot doesn't define your success. You moved across the country by yourself on a whim, and that's fantastic. You are capable, you are brave, you will get there. Don't sell yourself short based on the perceived success of others. Almost everyone's early- to mid-twenties are pretty inherently disappointing. That's okay

I still cannot get over how generous in all things you are, Amber. You sent me photos of sunsets in Texas when I was in the middle of writing my stupidly long HBB fic! It made that section of the fic so much sharper and clearer and real to me, having you talk me through your homestate and knowing your love for where you're from. And you made sure I dressed like a flag on the fourth this year (that was ALL YOU, OH MY GOD, AND IT WAS AMAZING) and you are brave and strong and generous and funny and smart in everything you do. I'm so happy I've gotten the chance to know you. I'm rooting for you every day.

1. I'm smart, and most days I remember to use my intelligence. Most.
2. I have always had a shitty body image, but I've been working on that, and on taking care of myself, and for the first time in my life I think I can honestly say that I think my body is awesome. (I realize most of you have no idea what I look like.)

You make me so happy. You've no idea how much being a part of your life makes me happy. From your food adventures, to your other adventures, who would have known that commenting on a fic where I related to a pre-pubescent Leslie Knope would have lead to you being in my life?

I don't know, but I'm just SO grateful for everything that brought you into my life and just...yeah. You make me happy--and I know it's easy to bring me joy, but a lot of the things that you do make me so inexplicably happy that I can't express it properly, so here's the best that i can do.
