Two
After a distracted and decisively not so relaxing bath Jun put on his usual black jacket, ran his fingers through his naturally conditioned, flowing manageable hair before he knocked on the Shachou’s door.
He pushed the door open once the soft, “Come in” sounded.
His friend and long time partner Aiba Masaki was already seated inside. He turned around, looking excitedly at him. They shook hands cordially, not wanting to display buffoonery in front of the Shachou, respectful of his age and position.
He just hoped Aiba could contain his enthusiasm a little longer. They hadn’t met for a month and he could just see the sparkle in Aiba’s eyes threatening to burst and squeal like a school girl as he recounted to him all the adventures that he must have missed.
While Jun took his job seriously and performed so well because he was a perfectionist, he’d be perfect even if he had chosen to be a chef instead of joining the Yakuza, Aiba concentrated on the thrill (he would even incorporate ‘thrill’ in the kitchen and be convicted for mass food poisoning)
“I’m proud of you two. Your plan of getting Matsumoto arrested to keep the police satiated while Aiba ran the trade with the ring from Hong Kong right under their noses was brilliant.”
They bowed politely and the man in his mid-forties smiled approvingly.
“For that each of you shall get a 2% cut from the profit each.”
Whereas Aiba seemed happy Jun had no need for the extra millions being put into his pocket. Sometimes he wished the rewards would be more self-satisfying. Maybe he should have joined an old age home as an attendant instead.
“I hope prison wasn’t too unpleasant.”
Jun shook his head politely, “It was pretty cool.” And Aiba giggled bringing a smile to Jun’s face as well. Aiba’s attempts at appearing ‘cool’ were always ruined one way or other.
“Ah good, then. I have a new project for Jun, a special one since you’ve been away from action for a long time. As you know after Aiba’s trade was done he’s been working hard along with Yamashita to keep the Kiroii clan on the East Side under control, they have been trying to set up allegiance with our current allies and they have been attacking some of our field workers.”
Jun nodded still unsure of his special project.
“I want you to protect someone special.”
A bodyguard duty? That’s not special that’s elementary!
“But sir I-
“I know Jun you think that being a body guard might be beneath your status but this time I’m telling you, it’s a matter of utmost trust that I show towards you when I give you this responsibility.”
Jun nodded again, having no other choice but to concede.
“Matsumoto Jun meet Ikuta Toma, the captor and ruler of my heart.”
Before Jun could cringe at the cheesy introduction his eyes fell on the so-called heart captor. From the corner of the room sauntered out the same man he’d seen Yamashita with earlier. He has no idea how he missed his presence before but once his eyes fell on him Jun could sense nothing else.
Catching onto Jun’s intense gaze on him, Ikuta Toma looked at him with a mischievous smirk playing on his luscious lips before he leaned down to kiss the Shachou.
There was a persistent tug on his wrist as Ikuta Toma straddled the Shachou’s lap and he realized as he finally noticed Aiba’s discomfort that he had been staring.
Jun feels an odd sort of trepidation at his new assignment as he was pulled out of the room.
