I have the new Castlevania game, but havent put it in yet. I am confused by the fact that you aren't playing a whip guy. Is that what you just said, only dumbed down? :)
That is in fact the case. You might get a whip at some point, or, after beating the game are able to play Trevor Belmont (ala, Castlevania 3, NES). That said, you get a varity of weapons for the character through out the game, most based into 5 catagories, sword, axe, spear, fist and special. Special is anything that doesn't fit the first four catagories.
The game itself is pretty tight, it is just a matter of you don't play a Belmont, you play a Devil Shaper or whatever it was that they called it. You can summon and train Devils to fight for you and to aid you in fights. Think Pokeman, but with Devils instead of cutsy fuck animals.
