On a slightly more serious note,

I picked up a nice, fitted rayon tricot shirt with long sleeves and a small v-neck at Stadsmissionen yesterday, undid the side seams and the sleeve seams about 1-1,5 dm up from the hem, and finished the raw edges of the slits with rough, rather wide lace. I'm very pleased with the end result; it's not a terribly exciting shirt, but it's a great, ( Read more... )

I completely agree with you on the lace/PVC/modern velvet thing. I've seen these fabrics used so much and so tritely that, frankly, I almost can't stand them anymore. And that horrible combination of those fabrics in black and bright purple? Makes me want to gag.

Older, richer, more interesting and textural fabrics are far superior!

I hate seeing clothing companies using gaudy fabrics in bland ways. Why not use simple fabrics, and let the design of the garment be the center of attention ( ... )

I know EXACTLY what you mean.
I'm quite tall (178 cm) and I've never found a lot of clothes to fit me.
Right now I can't find one single button-up shirt for a girl to fit over my boobs. And if they do, they're too short lengthwise, always exposing my belly. So I have to by mens shirts. With always are very baggy.
There always sees to be somekind of trouble with clothes. I wonder who all those people are, who can fit perfect into almost any peice of clothing???
Anyway, since I sew a lot I've learned to see the possibilities of a garment rather than spending time lookig for the perfect one. (It's like trying to find the perfect husband, it just isn't possible, you have to work with what you got instead, haha)
Anyway: the measurements obviously suck.
I have a waist '32 in most jeans, maybe 33 or 31 in extreme cases.
But in AcneJeans 36 is to small for me.
HOW?!?!?!?
I though and inch or a cm was always the same length??
It's like science-fiction, parallell universes....

/L.
