Week was good, worked just off Broad St for Dad all week. City driving definitely not my favourite, but Five Ways not too bad. Buses...don't like them tho, their drivers can be arses, especially in wet weather.
Sat saw a long ride down to Ware, which went a little pear shaped towards the end, where the SatNav took me the wrong side of the river and then got confused and tried to take me through the river...lucky for me I'd spotted it was shit by then and went on actual roads back into Ware and followed Station signs close enough to Chi's to get there. Got dressed up a bit, and headed out to chat, chill and dance with lots of people I've not seen in ages (some not since the actual wedding 7 years go!). Lots of new faces, so there may have been times when I snuck out for chats with
maleghast, replaced game face and went back in.
Headed back to Chi & Mogs', quickly replaced dancing shoes and wandered up the canal to have a mini memorial thing for Mike, which was nice, if very sad. Finally tumbled into bed at about 2.30 and was up again by 10. Breakfast and decamped for lunch, I drove Chi, which was a little nerve wracking...not very used to passengers yet, but we both amply survived the trip. Then came the trip from hell back. Tried following SatNav...tried to get me to go on M25, so I headed back the way I'd come, but it kept nagging me, and in a bit of a fluster I ended up on the A1M because at least it was going northbound. So headed back via Luton, really, and then of course it switched off. So I navigated myself (better than with it probably).
Must not rely on them. Must do own homework about journeys first.
Worrying aspects to weekend:
- chatting to Chalkie at party, I was enthusiastic about the fact that I'd come down alone, and when we were chatting about having left R behind, I said something about the implications of that...meaning that I must have driven, but I'm not sure he took it that way...paranoid me can't help but think that maybe there are other implications about which I'd not thought.
- SatNavs are evil machinery
- I might have gone over 50 through the deserted roadworks on the M6 at one point, and Rich pointed out that they have cameras and average speedy things and I might get a letter telling me I have points on licence...this would not be good. If I get 6 before 2 years, I am bumped back down to provisional. Won't do that again...and hope that they don't send me a letter! I think there were other sections where I was going under 50 too so maybe will average out ok :(
