They both look awesome. Can't wait to see how the mirror turns out. Are you entering in A&S for a specific reason or just to say you did? (Because you're a smart boy and I know you know the travails of A&S entries under our current system and all that this might entail.)
Travails in the sense of the dangers you'd encounter with judges. Our system isn't perfect. In theory your entry should be judged by someone With A Clue (TM) but the system itself is designed to alllow judging by someone with Half A Clue (TM). Entering in A&S can be an imperfect and disheartening way to have your work viewed by people willing to comment on your item. Now, that having been said, it can also be an invaluable way to have someone With A Really REALLY Good Clue (TM) to make give you some fantastic insights
( ... )
I'm just thinking about who the judges might be. At Kingdom, there are half a dozen that come to mind that'd be well-suited. At Regional, um, that's a lip-chewer. There are four names that come to mind (you know them and probably have their opinions already), but they don't generally judge A&S. You'll prolly get stuck with someone like me or Dulci or worse. Between us we have .4 Clue.
Two pieces of advice: let your Regional MOAS know about the entry early so she can try to line up judges With A Clue. And get yourself a copy of the criteria and score the piece yourself (be mean!) so you know about what to expect.
I'm not sure if I want to etch the back or not. I'm having enough trouble getting the mirror polished, and the frame isn't very accommodating.
This one is bronze, but it's an aluminum bronze. It has a nice "bronze" patina on it now which helps a lot with the shiny brass thing it has going on in the picture.
The antique one has glass, which I think I can replicate at Tomak's. I got a hold of the curator at the British museum who recommended a book that has a whole chapter devoted to it.

What do you mean about "travails of A&S entries"??
I thought it'd be Regional, then Kingdom, and I'm out?

I have side projects too!
Like, walking and chewing gum, and seeing how much of my foot I can put in my mouth.
