I figured out why I didn't really like St. Patrick's Day.  It's this whole thing of "Everything Irish" but they seem to have "being Irish" down to 3 things:

1.  Wearing green.
2.  Getting drunk.
3.  The Catholic Church discriminating against homosexuals.

The only reason this holiday is such a big deal here is because the Irish society of Boston decided it was going to have a few parades to promote their culture. All well and good, until some fool said, "On St. Patrick's Day, everyone's Irish." ...the fuck?

Yeah, I hate this holiday with a passion, and not just because I'm a proud gin-drinking Englishman/Scotsman. ;)
