So, we adopted a crested gecko!! His name is Tahu, and he's a little one right now. Weighs a whopping 12 grams, haha!

I adopted him from a local-ish (she's out in Ft. Worth, which is why it gets the ish part tacked on) breeder. Her name is Kim, and her website is Gorgeous Geckos! The one I adopted is #2558 in the "under $100" section. :D

glad you're home building. Pets are part of that. capybyra December 31 2010, 03:55:36 UTC
Reptiles of most types are too high maintenance for my desire to work at. It's why most of my cats and dogs were "Shop Watchers" or Outside residents. I've had several outside cats that easily reached 12-15 years old with only a yearly vet trip for shots etc. Yes- they got heated in winter and sheltered ok in summer digs. Thermo controlled floorboard and a roof gable fan in summer makes for very happy kitties and dogs that are warm in winter/cool in summer. They're worth it- as they cats are kept to be mousers and the dogs to be a burglar deterrent/digester. It seemed weird at first to often see some of our cats and dogs denning up together- but, it was their choice:> Hand feeding both sorts of outside critters keeps them bonded to me and family, and increases the chance that they will make a would be burglar go elsewhere.

I hope you have good luck with that Gecko.

Surprisingly, this particular type of gecko is actually rather low maintenance. He just needs to be kept moist, warm and fed. :3
