Anyone wants to time travel back to the 80s?
Ok maybe not the 80s. But for anyone like me who grew up with the "old" Steven Spielberg films such as Indian Jones & ET, or watched the classics such as The Goonies - in other words, a style of film that has not really been made in years - this is for you. And for everyone else, this is probably for you too.
A bunch of kids are shooting a home made film in their small town when they are witnesses of a tragic train crash - and of much more than they would have ever expected.
I do not want to give more away because being unspoiled is part of the fun in watching this film. But I will just say this is a mix of children-become-heroes, family drama, thriller and aliens movie! Smartly brought together in a great blockbuster movie, the way only Steven Spielberg used to do them. One recognizes the style of the director who inspired JJ Abrams here, but that was not a problem for me as it actually had more of a nostalgia vibe to it.
I would recommend it as I think it is a nice change from the movies we get to see these days. Smart, genuine, fantastic effects and most of all, one can tell it was made with love and care, JJ Abrams' baby.
Anyone who wants constant action and explosions would probably be disappointed - although the train crash is really impressive. As for me, that was what I liked most: the balance between all elements that kept you always interested in what would happen next. And as in all those films, how the hero would get out of this incredible situation in the end.
