Dear Thyme, I don't know if you ever will read this, we are one year later and my Douce is gone, unfortunately not peacefully as your Greymalkin went. She was about 15 years old and we have had twelve good years together, I praised myself that I did give her a good life...
Greymalkin's beautiful photo above reminds me so much of Douce. Not the same color of course, but the same air of serenity, the same cuteness and the same kind of thick fluffy fur...
I missed your posts and I hope you well :)

I'm so sorry for your loss. Douce was a gorgeous little lady.

I'm very sorry also for neglecting to post here. An update is long overdue. Thank you for reminding me to do so.

I still miss my Greymalkin but the ache in my heart has eased a bit over time.
Still, at odd moments, I find myself thinking that Greymalkin would really love that sunbeam or that he'd love the long grass under the hosta in my new garden or that I could really use a cuddle and none of the other cats cuddles nearly as well as he did.
Your comment about how Douce and Greymalkin sharing the same kind of thick fluffy fur has me sitting here with what I'm sure is a sad smile on my face since I can almost feel his fur in my memory.
Thank you for reminding me of that. It's one of my best memories of him.

So many hugs for you.

LJ seems quieter now, I assumed that everyone might have migrated to FB ! I saw a new option in LJ settings allowing to reconnect by standard mail with old LJ friends. I'm really glad to see you're still on LJ and I'm touched that you commented back so quicky... Each cat is very special but sometimes we are fortunate to establish a very unique relationship with one of them. For the moment I feel I would be quite unable to look after a new cat, but still I worry about a kitty I put to adoption and that I missed aver since. I miss her and Douce every time I look in my garden and I'd like she wasn't gone to a new home (I had her full time during 10 months and before that I knew her, fed her and looked after her for years when needed because her owner was a bit oblivious about his duty). She was like a second cat to me. Her, I wouldn't mind to look after ( ... )
