Congratulations, you managed to log on! Good for you! Long may it last...

This is what's going on:

DDoS attack: an organised attack where many (MANY) computers visit the same site, bringing the site down. Livejournal has many Russian bloggers (it's owned by a Raussian company, as you probably know) who write about political stuff. Some don't like ( Read more... )

I guess I'll take one of those access codes. I don't want to panic or jump ship on LJ, but I have absolutely nothing backed up and couldn't handle the kind of devastation that losing everything would bring. I'm 99% sure I would be one of those users "lost" if everything went down.

PS I got myself a DW account (same nickname) just in case, using a code someone posted on their code sharing page, though I doubt that I will use it much unless the entirety of UK Lolitics and the meme moves there. But when I tried to look up your page, I only see three entries from a few months back. Is it a matter of friending etc., or do you keep the backup private, or am I seeing something wrong?

Love your icon ;) No worries, am sort of flooded with work myself, but apparently not enough to stop me from occasionally checking LJ :P Will happily friend you but will probably keep a blank-page DW account for a while, unless pushed by the disruptions to completely move over.

I've set up a dreamwidth account (unsentimental_fool) but I don't have time to do much with it right now. Most of my fic's over on AO3 anyway.

But this is the first flicker of LJ I've had for days. It really is a bad one; hugely sympathetic to poor LJ.

Sigh. I set up an dreamwidth account (spamjane) when this whole FB crossposting thingy happened, but never really used it. Meh, I think I should better mirror my stuff now as well :-/

I've got everything mirrored as well, though I still need to back up the images and stuff I've uploaded here. Dreamwidth doesn't seem to offer image storage. Hmmm...

Also, I've got a few dreamwidth invites left if anyone needs one...
