I like to write to music. But it has to be very specific music. I can't write to anything with words, or that's real recognisable, or too peppy or too dominant in any one instrument. Something soothing that moves along and doesn't really resolve. . .

I love Pandora.com ... just type in the name of a song or musician (or sometimes genre), and they play a similar selection for you.

HRH buys video game soundtracks. I mock this, but secretly when I have a lot of stuff to get written and I can't concentrate in the quiet, I like to work to video game music. Especially Final Fantasy. It's specifically designed to keep you energized enough to keep playing but be non intrusive enough to not distract you from the game.

*shrug* it keeps me off the New Age stuff :-)
