Been trying a lot of RPGs lately in my quest to find a new one to eat my free time (you can only play Fuwa Fuwa Panic so much before making Sailor Scouts cry gets old). So, in no particular order:
7th Saga: I tried this one quite a while back, but remembered getting bored with it pretty quickly. Mostly because I only seemed to be doing random encounters. I'm not even sure I made it to the first town or whatever.
Arcana (Card Masters): I remembered playing this a long time ago and hating it. Now I remember why. tia has no love for first person limited perspective, and the battle system wasn't that great, either.
Arcus Spirit: I'm not even sure why this is listed as an RPG. It's more like a top-perspective action game. Not my cup of tea, kthxbye. Any game that kills me repeatedly in the first five minutes is not worth my time. (And the continues sucked, too.)
Brain Lord: Don't ask me what the title means, but this one is actually pretty cool. It's not really more than a glorified dungeon crawl, but the dungeons are pretty challenging and full of yummy puzzles. And orange balls that chase you. Much hate for those balls.
Brandish: Ugh, ugh. Like multiple death, any game where I spend more than five minutes trying to figure out what the hell I'm looking at is not worth my time. Worst. Control. System. Ever.
BoF2: Fun game, but I'm currently stuck in the underwater timed part. Much hate for that. *huggles the catgirl for comfort*
Chrono Trigger: Love it, what can I say? <3 my turn-based RPGs. Just picked it up and beat it again fairly recently, I'm going to try and get all the endings again.
Dragon View: Cheesy, and I'm not too kicked up by the control system, but it might be pretty fun if I could stop dying. -_-
Earthbound: I can't believe I played the WHOLE THING. The control system was good, the plot, graphics and characters were just crap. Proof that game designers need to lay off the drugs.
Final Fantasy 4: A Final Fantasy I actually beat~ It's a lot less complicated plotwise and playwise, but still quite fun. Poor Kain. *gives him a hug*
Final Fantasy 6: I suppose I'll eventually get off my rear and finish the last sidequests so I can go smack Kefka. Or maybe I'll just play it over again. Can't beat that plot with a stick. X3 Also, love for the female "main character" X3
Illusion of Gaia: I think I'm going to have to start this one over...I've already missed so many Red Jewels it's ridiculous. I'm actually doing pretty well for an action RPG, and the leveling system isn't as bad as I thought it'd be. The plot's mostly okay, though there have just been some points where it's like 'We're going to be cheesy or obvious to advance to the next part'.
Lufia 2: The plot's okay, but the dungeon crawls are starting to get a little tedious. I can't remember whether I'm going up or down in this lighthouse....
Magic Knights Rayearth: Followed the first season, no big twists, which was rather disappointing. Battles were a little easy...then again, they do start with several hundred HP to begin with o_0 Pretty graphics, though.
Robotrek: This one was pretty fun/interesting, and the robot-customizing was pretty cool as well. It's been so long, I need to go back and play it again.
Sailor Moon Another Story: The plotline was pretty intriguing, actually. And who doesn't love playing with the eleven year old who controls death?
Secret of Evermore: Okay, Square. Continues. Ever heard of them? -_- This one is a lot like Secret of Mana in graphics and game layout (stupid menu!) and I think the first enemies are just a WEE bit too hard hitting. -_-
Secret of Mana: First game I've actually gotten kicked out of town and beaten up by a kid NPC X3 But oh how I am hating that stupid ring menu. No love for ring menu. Also, sprite + bow = kills things liek woah.
Shadowrun: How the fuck does anyone get five minutes into this game without a FAQ? I hate getting shot at on practically every screen and not being able to shoot back. -_-
Mario RPG: Peach kicks Goomba butt. X3 The control system and plot are all pretty fun, now if only I could pick it up and play it again... *probably needs a restart to remember everything*
Maybe I'll do my GB collection next.
