Yes, it does come in black.

Mom was wrong again. I was watching Ruby last night because I had a hard time falling asleep. I should have mentioned yesterday that R. and I decided that trying 20 mg of Paxil a day might be helpful. So I took it at night, but I'm going to take it in the morning from now on. However, the point is that she is 350 lbs. and she was able to ride a ( Read more... )

Biking is actually some of the best exercise you can do; my brothers mountain-bike a couple of hours a day, and I'm pretty sure one of them is going to be like, negative weight sometime soon. Boy's got skinny-ass legs.

It's really low impact, too-- when I go to the gym and am too lazy/too knee-pained to run, I use the bikes. Call your local Y, see what the weight restrictions on their machines are. I know the seated ones (they've got a chair instead of just the bike seat) can hold more than the standard bikes.

Unfortunately, a membership to the Y is really expensive. It will be cheaper to buy the bike.

Admittedly, it does depend. It may be technically cheaper in the long run to just get the bike, but at the same time, at the gym, you've got eight billion other people doing the same thing, and it's more of an incentive to push yourself.

Not in my case. And it is a big difference, money-wise. Six months of Y membership would pay for the bike. That's only six months. I'm sick of paying ridiculously high fees for places that don't deserve the money. I am just so sick of gyms not living up to my expectations, and I doubt the Y is any better. Plus, I would have to go be around people that whole time, instead of just being able to grab my bike and go. I have a *lot* of social anxiety.

Bicycles are awesome! I too am overweight and bicycle avidly. What bicycles were you looking at?

Also, humor: I am from central Florida (Altamonte Springs, grew up in Winter Park) and just spent the summer there. My best friend and her husband go to med school at USF. Small world!

I've been looking at this one online that will accomodate up to 500 lbs. It's just like... 600 dollars I don't have. =/

Yeah, that is funny. I'm taking at least a semester off again, though, because I can't afford it and I don't want to get any more loans. USF's medical school is hard to get into, kudos to them.
