Night is closing in; there's a full moon out; it is time for some fic. :D
Only a small snippet from me this month, as I've had quite a few things on my mind that have prevented me from having fun working on this serious task. It's original as well, which means that the only person who knows these characters is me. They're James and Hugh, both

Dexter; draw blood
"Werewolves of London
draw blood . . ."
- Warren Zevon
"There were worse things than crucifixion.
There were teeth."
- Stephen King, The StandHe lies near-motionless and his features are serene, stylish hair, now tangled, thick lashes, full lips. He would look perfectly angelic, were you not to take into account the messy smudges of blood on his skin and the red curtain of it, down his lower jaw, his throat and his front ( ... )

This gives me a second's pause, and then it all tumbles into place. I find myself smiling at the joyful understanding of it. A certifiable case of lycanthropy. You read about it but you don't think this still happens. All the killings, all the night of the full moon. All by a man who will swear on his life that he turns into a wolf once a month.
"So am I doing you a favour?" I play along.
"Let's not go that far," he says. "I'm not that eager."
"But you think you're cursed, you think the next full moon, you're going to kill again."
"I know I am. How about you?"
"It depends on whether I can clear my schedule," I muse.
"I know what you're thinking," he smiles. "Lycanthropy. All that. But since we're alone here, and since I take it this will stay between the two of us - that's not quite it. That's believing you're a werewolf."
"And you?"
"I'm homocidal, not insane. I don't believe I'm sprouting fur and fangs. Oh no. But once a month, just once a month, I allow myself to pretendHe grins, eyes closed, ( ... )

Avatar; a nice quiet eveningIt had all turned out to be a little less romantic than Parker had hoped. Not that he'd been aiming for a candlelight dinner, but he still had a thing or two from the company's welcome package left and had wound up with a friendly dinner of steak and red wine under three full moons, a rare occasion - while there were fourteen counting Pandora, rarely were three in the same phase in the sky ( ... )

Funny, he never noticed before that Miles had slightly pointed canines.
Except they were growing more and more pointed by the second, and longer --
With a whoomph and a miserable snarl-howl, Quaritch, or rather, whatever it is he was turning into, slammed against the reinforced glass ( ... )

Peep Show; a night in
Actually nice, these quiet evenings, thought Mark, licking at ice-cream and watching the TV attentively.
In the end, it had been a good decision. He might not have thought he would end up with Jez at the end of it all, certainly not when he first met him, but there it was, a sort of pleasant familiarity, moreso than with any previous girlfriend. Jez was Jez, and around Jez, Mark could be Mark. No pretense, no clamouring for love or attention. They just were.
It also gave them the opportunity to be completely open with each other.
He'd actually been impressed Jez had kept this to himself for so long, and Mark, well, Mark grudgingly admitted he was getting far too good at keeping things to himself.
It wasn't that they'd done this to each other. Jez had come in with the . . . condition, and so had Mark. It's just neither had mentioned it because neither had wanted to be considered insane by the other ( ... )
