To help those Americans out there (*cough* Sarah Palin *cough*) who can only name Roe v. Wade when asked for important Supreme Court decisions, if you are so inclined, post about another important Supreme Court Decision in your journal

Your last graf is true of the Constitutional decisions. But it's important to remember that the Supreme Court also does a lot of very important federal statutory interpretation. Those decisions are perfectly reversible simply by changing the statute.

It is a point the now deceased Chief Justice Rhenquist often made about the Court. Not all cases are sexy Constitutional issues. The Court also has to wrestle with such fascinating question as (to pull one from the granted cases list for this coming term):

"Whether the Ninth Circuit erred by reversing the
district court’s reasonable apportionment of
responsibility under CERCLA, and by adopting a
standard of review and proof requirements that depart
from common law principles and conflict with decisions
of other circuits."

Fascinating stuff, right?

The Supreme Court cases that I can think of off the top of my head are:

Brown v. Board of Education
Dred Scott v. Sanford (OK, I was wrong, it's Sandford)
Eldred v. Ashcroft
United States v. Microsoft
Korematsu v. United States
Miranda v. Arizona
Gore v. Bush (wrong again; it's Bush v. Gore)
