When I'm just exhausted but not sleepy, I drink a cup of coffee. That's what lets me lay down for a nap.
I don't understand it either.

Coffee works well as an ADHD medication. For that reason, it helps me get to sleep, whether at night or for a daytime nap-though it also detracts from my quality of sleep.
