Spring time heat brings Summer time chills

Every spring I pick all the flowers
I put them in my basket
so I have something to show
I take them home
place them in water
so strong they will grow

but they always just wilt
so I throw them back

in the garden where they were
once colorful and lively,
now they are dead and black.

fill a wooden box with dirt
put it on your windowsill
bless the seeds with water and earth

that way you'll have your display
but the flowers will stay strong
and bloom
instead of wilting away

Everytime I fill the box
and put in my hours of work
the flowers turn the other way
refuse the water and earth

I try to keep them happy
you know I love them so
but it seems the more I nurture them
the less they want to grow

perhaps you're overwatering
or maybe they miss the sunlight
could they be too crowded?
try growing some outside

or grow vegetables instead
take their nutrients inside
worry first about your health
and flowers will come in time
