"Not. Until. You tell me. What happened," Chika replied, just as slowly and clearly, his expression turning stubborn in the face of Shito's cold. "I'm your fucking partner Shito, whether we like it or not. I've got every fucking right to butt in if you're damaged enough to not be able to cover my ass in a fight!"

The problem was, Shito was not listening to Chika's reasonable, intelligent argument. He was hanging onto his calm by the thinnest thread, and that thread was fraying.

Before Shito could stop himself, the next words fell from his mouth. "Please," he said softly. "Please let go."

Chika was so badly startled that he actually obeyed, releasing his partner and taking a step back, hands raised in the universal gesture of surrender. "Shito, will you just fucking... gods. Why do you have to be so damned stubborn? Why the fuck won't you let Yuuta deal with it?" Shito wasn't normally this weird about getting his injuries treated. They'd both had Yuuta heal them so many times Chika had long since lost track.

Shito stepped past Chika and grabbed his towel, starting to dry himself off. His hands were shaking so badly he could scarcely do it.

"I don't want anyone to see this," he said, not looking at the other boy. If he didn't look, he could pretend he was talking to himself. "I didn't want you to see it. I'll be okay. I'm not going to die, and it won't affect me in a fight, either. It'll heal."

He pursed his lips. This wasn't going to put Chika off, and he couldn't stand another explosion right now. "It wasn't the vampire," he said reluctantly. "Someone else showed up from the community and attacked me. I'd never even seen him before, or talked to him."

Chika scowled. "They just showed up and jumped you? What the fuck? That's bizarre. But it still doesn't make any sense why you don't want Yuuta to heal you." He shook his head at Shito. "Idiot. If you're clothed all he'll see is the bite on your neck, he doesn't need to see it to heal it. Why suffer if you don't have to?"
