In which me and Wikipedia reinvent the world

I ran into a disturbing article on race and intelligence on Wikipedia while Actually Studying, and followed it to see what else they had on the subject, only to discover there's a category specifically called Ashkenazi intelligence -- which is always nice, though a little strange. But our being Chosen People is less my point here than this ( Read more... )

It's a pretty old debate. Although I was under the impression that the most famous/accepted argument re IQ oriented eugenics within the Ashkenazim was Corchran's Thesis. I don't think I've actually ever seen this particular take. Although I suppose they are complementary raher than conflicting.

I knew that, I suppose, but the question vaguely existing in general is a bit different than seeing it up on Wikipedia as its own thing. (I realize that's not very logical, yes.)

They do seem complimentary, and I can't really see assimilation being a major factor -- people didn't get driven out that easily, most likely... I mostly just liked the broader implications, really.

Oh, not at all! It's just that I have to admit that as its own thing this theory isn't very plausible to me -- a very interesting side note, but probably not a major factor, again, in my oh-so-expert opinion.

And thanks for mentioning your thoughts - other people's takes are always interesting.
