One day I'll manage to crossover all fandoms that ever existed, see if I don't.

This is an inexplicable ficlet born from the second picture in this post, where Scotty Caan (i.e Danny from Hawaii 5-0) is wearing a hideous ring he clearly stole off the set of The Vampire Diaries. There are many ways to deal with that, like wondering what Scotty Caan would be doing on the set of TVD, or why Danny Williams needs an immortality ( Read more... )

Jesus fuck, River...

*beams* I take that as a great compliment.

Well, it can't really be that every immortal in the world knew one of the HL regulars, can it? No matter what the show tried to tell us?

...Yes, okay. She's probably sunbathing on a nearby beach somewhere. She and Steve would get on like a house on fire, though probably not the way people usually mean that expression.

Eh - Steve, Scmeve. I just want to see Kona meet her :)

... you are having Danny come out to the rest of team, yes? Somehow? Because otherwise, I don't even want to know you any more!

P.S.
Y'know when your started your post by talking about vampires I thought about Marsters's cameo on the show and I thought this AU was going to go into completely different direction.

See, the problem with Kono and Chin -- and why I almost (but not actually) can't blame fandom for writing them less - is that they aren't great flailing balls of flailiness. I'm honestly not sure what either of them would think of Amanda.

And yes, of course. Danny wouldn't keep his team in the dark. o.O

.....You know, that's an interesting point. Except no no no. I've already been trying to dream up a universe where Veronica Mars is on 5-0 for weeks now. Too many crossovers make one's head go boom.

You know, when I made that joke, I wasn't expecting you to go out and write an amazing H50 AU where Danny is an immortal. Oh my God, I love this like a loving thing! That whole slow build-up, the grief and rage that Chin and Kono share, the numb shock that Steve goes through, the relief that Rachel feels when she finds out that Danny wasn't decapitated, and oh God, how much do I love that Rachel knows about Danny's secret, and now Steve knows? AND THEN THAT LAST PARAGRAPH. With Danny bitching about Steve getting him shot again after everyone saw him dead. *flails*

Please write this forever because it is so, so good. You are so good and I am beyond thrilled that my stupid throwaway comment led to something this amazing and wonderful. ♥!!!

Oh, I'm so glad you liked it! And man, this is awesome awesome detailed feedback, thank you!

I can't imagine Danny not telling Rachel, not least because that's the only way to be mostly-sure Grace will never be told he's dead. Which is somehow a really neat thing between them in my head, them going at each other all that time but her still keeping this safe for him.

I sat here trying to figure out what Danny could possibly say and what could possibly be un-sentimental enough for him, and then realized it was absolutely obvious. *g*

I LOVED IT. And recc'd it because I seriously cannot be the only one who loves this to pieces.

I'm so happy with the whole Rachel scene because you summed up their relationship so perfectly with just that bit: the love and the worry and trust, and even when they didn't work, she still keeps this part safe for him. And now Steve is the next one in Danny's life to know about this, which is just lovely.

Hee! Your Danny is just so Danny. I loved that part so much. :D

Ve-e-e-ery interesting. Naturally I immediately wonder:

a) who is Grace's biological father?

b) where does Danny keep his sword? Or does he have something else he uses for chopping?

c) when & where was he born?

nom nom nom.

Good questions, those! I don't have good answers so much as speculations, though.

Grace - I basically spared half a second to this when I remembered immortals can't have children, then realized it didn't really matter. Whether she's adopted or from a past relationship, I can't really imagine it meaning anything to Danny; she's his daughter, full stop.

Sword - For a while there, clearly he using a sword cane. *g* In general, though, there's either the explanation I always liked about HL, where they all keep their swords in tiny mobile interdimensional pockets; Or more seriously, it's entirely possible he doesn't actually know the whole deal about immortals yet (and somehow got only half the story). Because:

Biography - I don't have it in me to believe Danny's that much older than he looks, or has a much different history than he appears to. He's so... himself. And so much not really a Wise Old Man ( ... )

Here through robanybody's rec and I am in full flail mode over this! Danny as an Immortal. Please tell me there is more.

Thank you! Flailing is an awesome reaction. :D I honestly don't know if there'll be more or not - my brain tends to take a vote about these things when I'm not around.

even with just a basic understanding of Highlander, this is so, so good. OMG, the grief and then Danny calling being so himself and I'd want to read this forever...
