So you may have noticed that I haven’t posted much if you’re one of those people that looks for updates on my livejournal. In an effort to waste time and because Fran mentioned to me that I hadn’t blogged in a while, here is an effort at updating you all on life as of late:

I know exactly how you feel. I didn't like France and I feel terrible when everyone talks about how amazing study abroad was and I feel like i fucked up or I didn't adjust well enough or try harder. And I don't even miss it and I feel weird telling people that if they ask me.

Hey T,
Don't worry. You did really well and I can totally say that I was/am so proud of you! You didn't suck at it. But then again, I'm still on my personal escape in Greece :-)
I've decided that this isn't quite the alternate reality; its half-way between...There are hot showers, but you can't put toilette paper into the toilettes here (apparently the pipe system is too narrow..)

dude, tieneke, if it helps, i nearly went insane in senegal. and i didn't LOVE it either, and i didn't want to admit that to myself or anyone, and i thought i had been bad at it as well. it was hard. as a first time for living abroad, it is not all peaches and cream. especially when you don't even have your own place, which means zero privacy and alone time to heal your aching brains after new everything smacks you in the face and beastly heat is waiting in line to smack you second. that said, it's OK. not everything can be your favorite. you tried it, you did it. and you learned a f*ck of a lot from it. after a year at kzoo and eight months in japan, i am glad that i did it, i am glad that i do not live there now, and i am ready for a visit, i think ( ... )
