BODY PAINT!!!

Apr 19, 2009 13:22

Hey all!

I would love to wear Eve again, but I am really struggling to find a good body paint. I've tried Aquacolor, Latex, and regular acrylic paint, but I haven't found anything good that gives me good opaque coverage. Tips? Help?! I don't want to retire this cosplay just yet, but I might have to if I can't find some decent paint. >_

Have you tried Mehron? They sell all kinds of theatrical makeup and it's professional quality. I've used it before and it's pretty good stuff! They also carry sealers to apply on top of the makeup so it lasts longer.

Here's the website if you wanna check it out.

Good luck! ^_^

Have you tried Ben Nye? It's also a really good theatrical-use body paint. I have a few other links if you would like me to dig them up for you.

Mehron or Ben Nye all the way! I went through the same drama every time I cosplayed as Cortana. For the dark purple face paint I used HYPER-FORMANCE CreamBlend along with setting powder before and after I applied it. For the lighter shade of purple in Halo 2, I used Ben Nye MagiCake Aqua Makeupas a base and then went over it with Ben Nye Creme Makeup Primary Colors in a similar color. No matter what you use setting powder or setting spray is always a good way to keep the paint from cracking or flaking. And to be honest with you, if you have access to an air brush that is your best bet. I used it for Halo 3 Cortana and it goes on so smoothly and dries instantly. I have been down this road many times so if you have any questions at all just let me know, hope this helps you out.

Whoops! I thought I had responded to this already!

I'm going go try the Mehron out. =D Thanks for responding! I liked your Cortana's results! That's what I need, a solid color. Aquacolor looked really streaky on me, no matter how many layers I put on. Well... I'm sure if I reached 15 layers I would have been set, but you know how it is at a con. Fuck that, it got all over my costume, too.

I got some setting spray! It specified for powder, but it also said it was an antipersperant if you use it before you put on the paint? We'll see, experiments, experiments.

If you are able to airbrush it, and want something that will NOT come off, Temptu is the way to go. It's what we used for our ReBoot stuff, and what they use in the Halloween Horror Nights prosthetics lab. Does not come off with sweat, can be used in and underwater, and is only soluble/removable by alcohol.

Sorry I took so long to respond! I decided to go with Mehron, but when I invest in an air compressor I'll definitely try Temptu out. This stuff sounds epic! It's funny, I have airbrush nozzles but no compressor. lol.
