I dont understand how people make real things out of the things in their heads. It completely baffles me, but I think it is amazing, and Im really glad that youre finding even more new ways to use your talent. I love it :]

Automysonuptasymmetriphobia.
:]
Well the assignment called for creating something furniture-based. And my initial idea was to play with the idea of phobia furniture and being suffocated by your fears, having your surroundings foster those irrational thoughts. Then I started researching some of these weird phobias (because there are a ton out there) and I focused on three. Asymmetriphobia (fear of asymmetrical things), Anuptaphobia (fear of staying single), and Automysophobia (fear of being dirty). There you have it, a dirty, asymmetrical, narrow bed. The stuff on the bed is actually chicken poop (or, "chickenshit") which was meant to infer the slang term for being a coward, though not many people got that when I explained it in class, ha ha.

I definitely prefer this style over nude sculptures. I love seeing how people use ordinary routine scraps and even trash and tell a story. It has a certain look about it that I love. And there's something very legit to see your work in a white room, do you know what I mean? I like it a lot.

Instead of a white room, it'll be like a dark alley somewhere,
Instead of champagne it'll be tap water
and instead of hors d'oeurves it'll be spam :D

THAT'S BETTER
it's real and raw- very much like the materials you used in your sculpture
