Fencing, giants, miracles & true love

This is my favorite book in all the world.

After many weeks of squirming, crying, jumping, rolling around in my own bed, nearly doubling over from laughing, yelling at words on a page, cursing Goldman to the high heavens, pumping my fists in the air, panicking, pacing back and forth, chuckling, smiling, fearing the worst, and being all but a few ( Read more... )

the princess bride, it's book season!

When Inigo defeated the Count, I literally threw my hands up in the air and cheered. The momentum builds every time he repeats his iconic lines and you can't help but be sucked in the moment...whew! *wipes sweat from face*

Your reaction sounds just like the grandson's in the movie. :)

"No more rhymes now, I mean it."

"Anybody want a peanut?"

"GAH!"

Awww, I can't think of any comebacks to that at the moment. But Fezzik is a precious creature, y/y? I really adored his backstory in the book. :D

*squee* I went on that magical roller coaster the first time I read it as well. Great though the movie is, there are some moments in the book that just blow it out of the water. :)

I think my favorite bit was Fezzik going crazy because he wanted Inigo to finish his story. XD

My thoughts exactly! As stunning as the movie is, I was pouting over the fact that the Zoo of Death wasn't included. I think it would've been cool to see Inigo and Fezzik fumbling their way through each level, the two of them pretending to be brave when they were really frightened out of their wits. That scene you mentioned was really funny as well! I believe that was when a snake fell on them?

It truly is a wonder to behold. As a reader, I don't get easily hooked with most novel's premises but this one absolutely ensorcelled me. I fell for it hook, line, and sinker to the point that I actually believed S. Morgenstern was a real person. Good thing my ignorance didn't last long enough for me to request for a copy at a local bookstore. ;D

I think so. Sounds like it's time for a re-read!

Ohmygosh, I thought S. Morgenstern was a real person at first, too! It took me FOREVER to realize he was just another funny character in the story. XD

Same here! I honestly thought Goldman abridged a "good parts" version of a classic. And that he encountered many problems and controversy among scholars for cutting out a lot of parts. Though I can see why he's fooled so many people, his prose is just so charming! xD
