Bugs of unusual size!

Jul 26, 2013 20:59

Today, I had an encounter with a B.O.U.S. a.k.a. a bug of unusual size! Okay not really. I just like to exaggerate. I have a fear of bees/wasps/any insect that is more dangerous when it is flying.

So I was walking past Rizal Library minding my own business when this giant black fuzzy bee approaches me and attaches itself to my shirt! And I've ( Read more... )

I was bitten by a wasp once, I'm pretty sure cause there was no sting left.

ACK! I have suck a weak heart for aggressive insects who will sting or attack you for absolutely no reason ... T_T

Glad you survived your encounter!

Wasps DO suck. I've been stung twice in my life by wasps. Once when one flew up inside my shirtsleeve when I had my arm raised-he stung me in the armpit when I put my arm back down again. The second time was in my own BED! He had got in through our drafty old windows and lay in wait for me in the sheets. He stung me in the leg and got stuck there. Hanging by his ass off my leg, I had to slap him off and he left a HOLE in my leg! Ugh. I hate wasps.

Bess on the other hand, well, I've probably been stung a dozen times in my life-used to walk to school through a big, overgrown field full of flowers and tall grass-and the stings are very mild in comparison (seriously, I've had worse mosquito bites) plus the poor bees die :( Still, I encountered hundreds of bees at close range over the years and was only stung a handful of times. They really are pretty mild creatures.

Aaskdjkldjsa that sounds horrifying! D: Here I am whining about a tiny bee when you've been stung by wasps twice! I think I would have major trauma and an eternal fear of approaching anything remotely flowery lololol I'm so pathetic

It made me afraid of my own bed for months. I used to make my then-husband shake out the sheets before I would get in!

I would have freaked out. You did a lot better with keeping your cool. :)

LOL though to it being attracted to your floral attire. I bet it was pretty ticked to find out it was all a lie. :)

Yeah, I feel kind of bad now for leading it on like that. The floral print was kind of bright and pretty, so... XD

How big was the bee? Really big? If so, it's likely it was a carpenter bee. They almost never sting, so if a bee does land on you, carpenter bees are actually the least scary. :)

Wow, you really hate wasps. Guess I shouldn't mention that some breeds of wasp actually lay their eggs inside paralyzed spiders, and the wasp larvae eat said spider alive?

....why...why would you tell me that? ;_;

But yeah, I think it was a carpenter bee. I looked up some pictures online (NOT OF WASPS) and the carpenter bee seems to bear the closest resemblance to the one I saw. Pretty cute. :)

I guess because I'm a wealth of random creepy animal trivia facts? But I'll try to keep the creepy facts to myself in future. :)

I LOVE carpenter bees. SO FUZZY!
