YES, F-ING WAY! He does still have the goatee. I knew that if anyone replied to this post, I could count on you!
I managed to embarrass and demean myself by asking for his autograph for my brother - he's a bigger fan than I am. I figure, he's up in the north woods, at a motel, and he'd probably like a bit of anonymity. Well, the anonymity didn't happen, since we've got two hockey teams staying here this weekend, and they're all around 14-15 years old.
I'm quite sure my face was bright red, especially since I didn't recognize him right away. It was just that sense of "I know you. WHERE do I know you FROM?" He's seriously a very, VERY nice guy.
I'm a Mets fan, so if it had been, say, David Wright, I would currently be convulsing on the floor. Luckily, it seems that I will live another day. ;)
Anyway - I've missed you! How are you? Unfortunately, things have been very busy in the past few months, and I'm really behind on everything. *groans* Real life is getting in the way of LJ, damnit!
Julie! *pounce* I've missed you too, sweetie! I'm so sorry RL is getting in the way of more important things. Like LJ. ;-)
I kid. Hopefully things slow down for you soon. You know, so you can breathe. :)
Gardenhire is a VERY nice guy. I managed to get his autograph for my brother, and I'm sure I was as red as a fire engine. I hope I managed to control it a bit. *sigh*
Heaven forbid it was Hugh Laurie. I'd be a heap of nothingness on the floor. *hugs you like whoa*
LOL, at least you were able to talk! If it had been one of my Mets I would be like, "sign? Pen? Paper? MARRY ME?!" And if it had been Hugh Laurie - or, heaven forbid, Jesse Spencer, I would have passed out. I worked at the beach over the summer, and once had an Australian customer, could barely form a sentence! He asked how much an ice cream cost, and I think I actually replied "money." He had the bluest eyes... *reminisces*
*three hours later*
Anyway, I've MISSED you!!! Things will calm down in June - when school ends! LOL. I cannot believe how insane things are getting. And I can't believe I've been "away" for so long! *hugs you*
Well, it helped that I didn't completely recognize him at first - or at least put the face to the name. I knew he was familiar, but I couldn't figure out from where. Then it hit me, and I immediately had to go look up pics of him on the 'net just to make sure I wasn't losing my mind. *eyeroll*
LOL! I think I remember you sharing that story before! And hell to the yes. It's the accents, I tell you! Women of all ages swoon for accents that aren't theirs!
Ron Gardenhire, unfortunately, has the same accent as me.
I don't know who he is, but I know that if I ever saw one of my fangirl crushes up close and in person (especially if he was in a hot tub), there would be stuttering, drooling, pointing and other embarrassing behavior. LOL
LOL! He's the manager of the Minnesota Twins, and it's more the fact that I really respect the great job he does as manager, and that he's marginally famous at all that was a bit "Whoa. HE'S here? REALLY?"
I've now proven both how pathetic I am and how hopeless the situation would be if it were Hugh Laurie or any other crush I have. There would need to be a medic on hand.
*hugs*
BTW, my brain just exploded at the thought of Hugh Laurie in the hot tub here at work. Ngggghhh.

I'm rambling again. *sigh*
