Desperate for computer help

Oct 11, 2010 01:40

Ok, I don't know what happened but my desktop is fucked up. I apparently got some trojan or something. Now I can not get back into my computer.

Can anyone help me get back in to at least save some documents before having to wipe it? Yes, I'm terrible in not backing some stuff up.

Please help!!!!!

OK, first breathe. :)

What type of machine? What operating system and what AntiVirus/Anti Malware software do you have loaded on it?

i have an emachine w3653 It came with vista but I loaded xp on it.

I'm not sure about the anti-virus - rising something - with the lion image (if you know what that is).

If I turn it on in safe mode - it's just a black screen and I don't know how to access my files. If i just try to turn it on it comes up with this screen/message saying to keep from damaging my computer it shut down, and gives directions. BUT I am realizing/remembering now that I don't think I got ANY discs when it was shipped ot me.

But like said, my main concern at this point is getting my documents saved.

PLEASE tell me I can do this somehow.

First of all, there is a very good chance your documents can be saved.

At work, this would mean having your hard drive taken out and trying to read the documents directly from it. If the hard drive IS the problem, then there are programs I have that may be able to recover the data.

But first, let's see if we can get you back running if this was caused by a virus/trojan.

Do you have the option to Boot using Last Good Configuration?
When you try to boot normally, does it give a certain reason/file that is in error?

I didn't notice that option to reboot using last good config. Just gave me that screen that it shut down to prevent damage and if first time seeing this message to shut down. It talked about other stuff but there was nothing to select.

I'm 99% sure it was a virus because my microsoft security thing came up saying malware or something was detected and my anti-virus or whatever was saying to deny the registry key change (I think). And when some scan came up it was showing "Trojan Horse".

I did bring it to a friend a little bit ago, who thinks he can save it completely - without having to wipe it. Though I brought him my external in case of needing to save documents. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for your help/willingness to help! :-)
