You think I'm an ignorant savage
And you've been so many places
I guess it must be so
But still I cannot see
If the savage one is me
How can there be so much that you don't know?
You don't know ...

That's the way I felt when I first came to Lyme-Old Lyme like you people found me to be ignorant and a savage because I wasn't wealthy but I thought it was the other way around you guys were savage for treating me so cruelly.

"You think the only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you"
I felt that way because the kids treated me like I wasn't human I didn't have feelings because I was an outsider

"But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You learn things you never knew you never knew"

this became true when the kids in Old Lyme got to know me they learned something about the human condition and how to treat people they learned how to accept, they had it in them all along they just figured out how to apply it to life.
