Awake part 2 (part 2 of my story)

May 08, 2007 21:25

Ok, so i wrote this little thing way back in the summer in August at the beach.  It was orginally for a story I was writing at home but I haven't worked on that in months so it's going into this story.  I did fix it some to work better with the story and to update it with my current ablities.  Enjoy, personally I think I did a great job with the details.

Title: Awake
Chapter:  2
Rating:  PG
Disclaimer: I own everyone.

As soon as I fell asleep I was awake again, but when I awoke I was sopping wet and laying in a field with tall grass and tall trees boardered the large field.  A light rain was falling and the sky was just transfroming from a light blue to a dull grey..  My jeans were a navy blue and the black shirt I had been wearing clung to my body, when I sat up my hair fell to my sholders.  Had I fallen asleep in the clothes I was wearing and Siegfried and Roy brought me how?  If so how did I get here, I don't remember sleep walking before.  Was I kidnapped? Where am I?  I had no idea.
Far off in the distance behind me I heard the sound of faint laughter from an unknown man.  I slowly stood up, every muscle in my body was stiff; tilting my head back I starred at the sky.  I let the rain drops fall onto my face and into my eyes; once the sleep had been washed from my eyes, I wiped them with my bare forearm, I set out to find the laughing man.  I began to wander to the sound of the laughter, but it had stopped or lowered significantly.  The rain was starting to become heavier and I heard low rumbles in the distance, soon I knew it would start to pour and large claps of thunder and lightening would come.
About fifty yards away I heard the sound of splashing water and the laughter began again.  I quickened my pace and as I got closer to a large mixture of trees and brush the noise became louder.  I entered the small forest, right as I took my first step into the brush the sky opened up and a heavy rain poured from the sky; the ground was soft under my feet and and with every step I took my bare feet sunk into the muddy ground.
Lightening was striking in the sky and loud claps of thunder burst the quite air; as I waded into the forest it became more dense and more difficult to get through but the sound of rippling water caught my ears and forced me to push my self forward; the sound of water got stronger and stronger, as did the laughing.  With every step I took it became harder and harder to move, and to see.  Soon, I came toward the end of the forest, there was a large chrystal blue lake.  It was beautiful, but the only way to get to it would be to climb down a steep rocky embankment or jump from the cliff into the water.  Me being me I choose to jump, but before I did anything I layed down and hung over the cliff to see if I could find the man laughing and if there were any rocks I should worry about when I jumped into the water, there wasn't and I didn't see anybody by the water or anybody in it to be laughing.
I stood back up and went to the forest's edge; standing there I closed my eyes.  Sleep badly wanted to take over my body, I refused to let it, I didn't know where I was and I needed to find out who the man laughing was.  Opening my eyes slowly I took a deep breath and with a burse of speed I took off and jumped off the cliff.
For an instant it felt as though I was suspended in mid-air, that feeling was taken over seconds later by the cool crisp water rushing around my body.  After surfacing I floated at my landing point for a few seconds to get used to the water,  I let the water soooth my aching body.  As I began to swim towards the shore I noticed the rain had completly stopped and the air was humid.  I got to the shore and collapssed in the sand, the swim had taken a lot out of me, from the weight of my jeans and shirt it was much harder to swim than expected.  I layed close to the edge of the lapping waves, every few seconds a small  wave lightly crashed into the left side of my body, wetting me even farthur.
My eyes closed and I began to drift of into sleep, but the laughter woke me; I sat up quickly  looking wildly around for the man, all the blood rushed from my head making me dizzy.   Then across the lake I saw a slender  man inside of a cave, I wasn't strong enough to swim across the lake again, standing up my legs felt weak.  Pushing my self forward, it took only a few moments to reach the cave.
"Heeello?"   I said into the cave, there was no answer.  Where did the man go?  He couldn't have just disappeared.
"Hello?  Is there anyone here?"  I asked again.
A figure walked slowly out of the darkness, by only seeing his sillotte I could tell that he was very fit.
"Hello" He said, his voice seemed dark and husky, it scared me.
The man came out of the darkness.
It was my father.
"Dad?" I asked quietly, I was confused, how was he here, he had died 3 years earlier.  Was it that long already?  How did I forget his voice?  My own father.
My father knodded his head once slowly.
"How..." I couldn't form full sentences I was to flustered to do so.
   "How what?"  he asked.
"How are you here?  You died three years ago, this can't be possible!"
He stood there, still, his hands hung at his sides.  He was dressed in his Marine Blues, his hat sat quietly on top of a boulder in the cave.  The hat did not sit alone, under it a white clothes lay so the hat didn't get dirty from the boulder and a gold necklace curled on top of the hat, making a slight dent.
He didn't answer, I began to talk, I didn't do it on purpose, it  just slipped out.
" The cuffs of your pants are wet, and your shoes too."  I blurted out.
He pointed to the cave floor, it was flooded, I hadn't noticed.
"Kristen, I need you to wake up."  He said, begining to walk out of the cage; I followed close behind him.
"Dad how are you here? You died!"  I pleaded with him.
"I'm not sure, but you need to wake up." my father answered.
"Dad!  I'm awake!"
He scooped up his hat and placed it on his head, he took the necklace in one hand and wrapped it up in the white clothe; he stuck it into one of his pockets.
We walked to farther away from the cave slightlenly, we walked to the edge of the water near the cliff I jumped from, he stopped and pulled the white clothe filled with necklace from his pocket.
"Kristen, I want you to have this.  You know I love you, I'll always love you, but you have to wake up."  I took the packet from him and opened it.
"Dad this is your necklace, I can't take this from you." he took it from my hand, turned me around and placed it around my neck.
"Take it, I want you to have it." He took me into his arms and hugged me, I hugged him back and began to cry.
"Daddy, I love you, please don't leave again." I cried into his chest.
He held me tighter.  Why did he have to leave?  The God damned plane had to crash, right when he was on his way home, to my mom and I.
"Wake up please, I'll see you again, not now, it may seem like a long time but I'll see you again.  I promise you."  My father said, laying his head on mine and kissing it.

We started walking again, he gave me his Marine's necklace.  I still couldn't wrap my mind around this whole thing.

"Kristen, wake up, that's all I want you to do, just wake up."
"Are you even listening to me?  Dad! Can you please listen?  I have no idea where I am or what's going on?  I just woke up in the middle of a field soaking wet, you're alive.  What the hell is going on!" I screamed at him;  my father stopped and turned on his heels.
"I don't know either, just please wake up." My father said once again.
"Stop telling me that!" I screamed at his.
"Then do it! Just wake up!" he commanded.
"But I am awake, why can't you see that!" I screamed again, now I was only inches away from him, yelling in his face.
I stood up to my father, for the first time in my life, I wasn't afraid of my Marine Corp father.  Why did I yell at him, I'm a horrible person.
"I'm sorry...." he said quietly.
He pushed me and I went flying into the lake.  When I hit the water I heard my dad yell, "Wake up!"  As I floated to the bottom of the lake rage boiled inside me.  Why wouldn't he tell me why I was here?  Why was he telling me to wake up.

Soon everything began to get very bright, I couldn't see a thing, I was blinded.
