LJ Nostalgia

This essay made me wish for the old days to come back.
I vividly remember when Facebook and Twitter (and what else) didn't exist yet and we had our neat circle of fandom-y friendship here on LiveJournal. I love how the essay is as much about being a teenager - or more specifically, a teenage girl - and about dealing with all the turmoil teenagedom brings through writing, as it is about LiveJournal and the internet. I wasn't on LJ yet in the very earliest days of its existence, but I've been on here long enough, and throughout most of my own teenage years, for it to all sound terribly familiar and nostalgic.

I wish I could've experienced this during my teenage years. But even though I had already been out of college when I joined, it still feels familiar. LJ was there for me through my job difficulties and divorce. Fandom and like-minded people stayed at my side when I couldn't find them in real life.
