last one standing?

Still no word about what's happening with the NCIS Last Fiction Writer Standing competition. No official word, that is. Plenty of buzz about... if the increase in visitors around here is anything to go by. I'm not sure I love the implication that I won by default. I worked bloody hard on my fic throughout the contest, and prompt assignments have ( Read more... )

please don't sell yourself short - you have written darn fine fics and I have enjoyed EVERY ONE that I have read. I even friended your journal a while back so that I wouldn't miss anything - I can't quite remember how I stumbled upon that first story, but I am glad that I did, and I look forward to your future work.

And there is no shame in a "default" win - happens all the time in real life and it doesn't make the victory any less valid or deserved or sweet.

You are a well rounded writer who doesn't back down from challenges - pat yourself on the back, toot your horn, be proud of yourself - your readers are proud of you!

It's not a failure to be last one standing. Think of it this way: in selecting those for elite military units, it isn't those at the front who are scrutinized. It is the ones plug away among the pack, who show dedication and tenacity, that are often considered better recruits.

Hon, you outwrote every single person in that competition every single week. Whoever the other person is who's decided to whine like a little bitch and then drop out - I say screw them! You had nothing to do with the prompts, we just all have our strengths - like say it had been me with the AU prompt I already would have had a spring board, or if it had been kid!fic I would have been laughing. The mods don't know what we've written before or what we like writing, that was just luck for you, and if the other competitor doesn't like it then too bad.

You rock every day of the week. You've written fantastic things for this competition, and you deserved to win. You're *right*, I wish it could have been in the proper way, but you would have won that anyways. I promise. So this is still cause for celebration.

Wish the mods would get off their asses and make it official though...

To be fair, colourguard28 had a point about the final prompt - anyone who's read my stuff knows that I write crossovers already, whereas the other author doesn't even watch TV. I would have happily accepted a different prompt to end things on a nicer note and save either of us from having to be disadvantaged.

But yes... it would be nice if it were official, and thanks for the encouragement. :)

A different prompt would have been easier - but then, I also don't think it's very fair to say "woe is me, I can't write for this prompt because I don't watch tv" when you're writing fanfiction for a TV SHOW. I think some level of viewerdom is implied.

I'm backing your win 100%. Tip to the top. 5 by 5.

Love
