I just read over my upcoming article on George MacDonald; it comes across as straight theology, although that's quite far from my intention. Humph.

weirdly, i was chatting to this guy last night, whom i'd met before. what i didn't realise is that he's the heir of the your man's clan. as in, in line for the lordship and owning the isle of skye and so on and so forth. BRITAIN IS CRAZY.

anyway, that's a bit of a diversion, but, still, wow.

The short answer is no. The two adult fantasies are fascinating (Phantastes, 1858 and Lilith, 1895), and the children's fantasies (At the Back of the North Wind, 1869, The Princess and the Goblin, 1871, and The Princess and Curdie, 1883) and fairytales have some great passages, but I wouldn't recommend the 27 realist novels - on which I'm currently working - to anyone, really.
