Another fuck up by Amecon

Jun 06, 2006 15:04

I am seriously fucking pissed off now. I finally got a reply to my emails that I sent about getting the onsite accomodation email and lo and behold I'm not down on their records for being onsite, yet a couple of months ago another of their committee confirmed my onsite status when I asked as it was all full. I've copy and pasted that email and sent ( Read more... )

Yeah man, Amecon have got to get their darn act together.
I've been in touch with the treasurer about cancelling my onsite so I can stay with my gf offsite. The last email he sent me on the 14th may was "I'll look into it for you". A week later I emailed him again asking for progress because if I was to book offsite it was urgent I do it quickly. Still no email back from him.
Just now my gf informed me that she was sent a general email saying she hadn't booked accom with them or something and that it was also possible to cancel onsite for a cancellation fee, the amount of which depended on if you cancelled less than 1 week before or not. I didn't get this email and I'm one of the very few that wants to cancel onsite. If cancelling is indeed possible, then that bozo treasurer of theirs should've at least REPLIED to my email.

For want of better words I'm fucking appalled at the atrocious lack of organisation I've seen from this convention so far.

Hm.. I'm actually getting quite concerned about this now. :-/ It's JUNE, come on!

D'you think it'll actually go ahead at this rate? :x I should be booking rooms and train tickets soon, but I don't wanna start if it seems doubtful. :(

*sigh* i've been really quite bothered by much of a complete fuck-up they're making of all this and all because "most of us have our final year exams" ..........well fuck me, they should have got someone else to organise it then in their places, instead of suddenly going "oh no only a couple of us have time to deal with this stuff"; its not like they didnt know it was going to be finals year and they had a convention to organise for a couple of years beforehand....

i dont think i've actually had any emails at all from them except the forum "you have a PM" ones i manually set up for myself.

its possible i might not be going, partially because i get the feeling after seeing the area itself its going to be boring as hell with little to nowhere decent for photos and constant chav heckling all weekend once word gets around (worryingly close to the town centre). my other reason is much more of a factor which is because someone who means a lot to me might not be going for other reasons non-related.

17 members and they all have finals? Are they just a bunch of 20 year olds that thought they'd have a go at setting up a convention and are now worried about how they now have to do stuff?
We should rebel on the forum, or do something really childish until they do something.

*sigh* I dont know, I'm just a bit annoyed that they seem to be rather crap at everything... :(

I dont think this is a reason not to go. It's always worth while to see people with common interests. I've been to badly organised things before that've turned out to be pretty good. Once people are there they sort of take the whole thing over and it all works out.

true on the later point, which is why it doesnt factor highly into whether i end up going or not; my other reason is a far more important factor.

its still quite quite disappointing however.

I know your pain. Although, in my case it wasn't Amecon who screwed up. I was poking through drawers to tidy up before moving house and found the accomodation cheque I thought I'd posted under some stuff.

Still haven't gotten round to booking anywhere else. :"(

I really need to get my act together on this. Still don't have any flights booked.

Well I know Vyse and the others have booked flights and we've already organised meeting at the airport and stuff like the last 2 years. If you want their flight info I can get it for ya ^_^
