Two new professional cameras from Sony
Today Sony announced two new cameras on their web site. Not to sound like a press release but they are the PMW-EX1R, an update of the PMW-EX1 camera like mine, and the PMW-350, an on the shoulder camera using 2/3" 1920x1080 CMOS sensors and recording onto two express cards at up to 35Mbps MPEG2 4:2:0 video. Kodak ends Kodachrome production
Today I heard on the news that Kodak has ended production of their Kodachrome slide film. Also 5032 motion picture film. The volume got to be so low that it was no longer economical to continue production. Some time ago they stopped Kodachrome 25 the most honest color slide film that I have ever used that gives real colors when photographing tigers ( Read more... ) -

Cine Gear Expo 2009 at Paramount Studios
Well Cine Gear is over and over all I think it was good although somewhat smaller than last year and not as many folks attending. The location was great being in the back lot section and the weather managed to be mostly sunny and reasonable temperatures. The first few photos were from a friends camera. Getting ready for Cine Gear Expo 2009
This year the Cine Gear Expo is being held at Paramount Studios in one of their large stages. Will be there later today when it starts. Dropped off the EX1 camera at Band Pro for a firmware update at the Sony Center. Getting geared up for NAB
In just a few days the mad rush of mobs of people will be in Las Vegas for the NAB show. (National Association of Broadcasters) This is sort of like the Mac World of video. Rolling shutter in CMOS cameras.
I just wanted to show what happens when a video camera with a CMOS pickup device is used. Most CMOS cameras have what is called a rolling shutter. It has to do with the way the CMOS sensor is scanned by the electronics in the camera. This is the result when used with a strobe light.
