I am seriously considering going your route Denise by selling my Tivo HD with lifetime service and going Apple TV and watching my sports either online or at the bar.

I don't miss live TV one bit. There are moments, but they are infrequent enough where I can always find some place to go see it such as football or such. Plus the online hockey package has been worth every penny. It comes in reliably, never had any issues with it (plus it's nice to get to chose between the TV audio or the radio broadcast for your coverage while you watch it so you can tune out the schmucks on broadcast).

Even with the Apple TV hack losing its connection to Hulu (Hulu is blocking all efforts by Boxee or anyone trying to come up with a hack) it's still been worth it.

In the end, the only way to tell a business they suck is by showing them they aren't the only option and taking your dollars somewhere else.
