Questions/Requests about music...

I found this link on Channel Ten's website (the channel that screens Supernatural in Australia) - what's on Dean's cassette tapes and what's on Sam's iPod and just thought I'd share...
Before I started watching SPN recently, I had a pretty limited taste in music - but it's opened the doors for me to classic rock like ACDC and Blue Oyster Cult (i've ( Read more... )

*nods*
He is a child of the '90s. I remember hearing the names, but I was too young to listen to rock - it was all Spice Girls and Ricky Martin for me. ;)
I'm still forming my music taste (and thus remember nothing further than about four years ago when it comes to music) - it's going to be really interesting to see what I listen to in ten years time, huh? xD

Unlike Dean - I don't think Sam has that much of a set music taste so I was wondering what people thought about that list.

Do you recommend listening/downloading the songs?

LOL - You're right about the bands. Sam probably learned about his own music through the internet, because it's not like he stayed in one place long enough to get it from friends or radio stations.

Hmm - The Foo Fighters and U2 I've been encouraged to listen too but always been too lazy. xD
My Chemical Romance - some of their songs are a bit too... well, emo for me, especially some of the lyrics.
Classic rock has actually really suprised me - I thought it would be really loud and generally annoying - but BOC "Don't Fear The Reaper" was really nice. I'm looking forward to Dean's list. :)

Thanks, though, Katie - and if I don't hear from you again, Merry Christmas!

I think Sam and me have that in common - we can get used to anything if we have too. :P
I've absorbed music tastes from everywhere (fam, friends, SPN and SV)... so I understand the rocking out to the Beatles. :P
Unfortunately it's kind of hard to rock out to Hindustani classical music, but I do what I can. The Bollywood stuff is pretty cool, anyhow. :)

AC/DC is like Dean's pride and joy, but I wish they could have included Metallica-- because the Impala is not nicknamed the Metallicar for a reason. ♥!
True, true. Though I think you mean... without a reason. xD

Hi there! I came across your post on supernatural-tv but decided to leave my comment here since you mentioned you are into *Bollywood* music *and* a Supernatural fan!! I am too, and it's quite a treat to come across someone else who shares the interest for Supernatural and Bollywood (or maybe I just haven't been spending enough time on LJ!).

Anyway, I definitely think Dean's music list is spot on! I really like classic rock, and if you're a newbie to it, I'd definitely start with listening to AC/DC and Led Zeppelin. As far as Sam's list, I kinda like him listening to The White Stripes! I thought there was an episode where Dean mentioned that Sam liked Bon Jovi. Or was that a fic I was reading?

Hey! xD

Welcome to my humble abode {thanks so much for visiting, btw} - make yourself comfortable! *pulls up a futon for you*
I agree - the SPN/Bollywood combo is a little bizarre. I think mine comes from the combination of being Indian (and having spent numerous summers in Mumbai) and having recently "rediscovered" my language and culture AND being a natural born emotional fangirl, who just loves the urban spook and characters on SPN.
...
I swear, I think I have split personality disorder or something sometimes. xD
And what about yourself?

As for music... yes, I have a couple of AC/DC songs which I love - and I think a few people have suggested a Led Zeppelin song I can start with.
Bon Jovi? LOL - interesting that you mention them because I borrowed their albums from the public library (which can be so useful sometimes) and I can't wait to start listening!

Any other music apart from rock that you'd be willing to recommend?

I do think Sam's list is quite accurate, but I think there would also some some classic songs in there. I mean, he grew up with Dean by his side, so I think it's natural that he likes some of the stuff Dean likes.

True - I just think they didn't want to repeat Dean's music in Sam's list. This is probably more what he would have had time to listen too in Stanford - I don't think he's got that much time anymore for his own tastes. :(
