I'm glad to see I'm not the only person who saw this headline and read the article and thought "Then WTF was the point of winning all those seats in the House/Senate if you won't USE THEM!?"
Bush's approval is the lowest its ever been and, I think, the lowest presidential approval rating in the history of approval ratings. Support for the WAR is at an all time low. Support and good will for the SOLDIERS has never been higher.
How do you parley this into a politically invulnerable stance? You bring the f*@#ing troops home and provide them capable, adequate medical care when they get here! This would illustrate the Democratic talking points and policies that the war is a waste and our troops should not be harmed further by their participation therein.
After all of what's come before they still lack the strength of conviction to do what's right because, if they do, the Republicans can call them out for being "weak on terrorism." Which is the complete opposite of what an actual exit-strategy would be. If we were to pull out
( ... )
It's interesting to see the chaos going on in BOTH parties lately. People pissed at the Dems because they are going back on all their promises (ethics reform, bring the troops home, etc etc.) and people pissed at the Republicans for the NeoCon agenda (As epitomized by the whole "Ron Paul Moment"...I think far more people feel like Ron Paul than they will admit, who are conservatives."
2008 is going to be crazy scary in a way, I think.
