Carryin' the jar o' wine he'd found in the room on the bottom floor o' the compound (the one where the washin' machines are), Mal makes his way up t' the first floor. He's been 'xplorin' n' searchin' all o'er the place for Leoben but has yet t' find him. He don't 'xactly know why he ain't been afflicted like most o' the other folk, all bein' in a ( Read more... )

Leoben wandered into the kitchen after his conversation with Fraser. He'd thought about trying to find Malcolm, but it was possible the man was someone else and didn't want to found. Or that he was still thinking and considering the mess Six had made of that the other day...

He sighed and rummaged around for something to eat instead. He didn't really notice anyone was there until after he'd finished two sandwiches and was considering another. Then he looked kind of embarrassed and decided two sandwiches was probably more than enough.

"Hey, Malcolm. Assuming you are Malcolm."

Havin' just finished off his second generously-poured glass o' wine, the reaction time t'lookin' up upon hearin' his name is a touch sluggish. Seems t'take fore'er t'sit the glass on the table, but he manages just fine n' all the same.

Tippin' his head back, he sets an eye on Leoben.

"No assumin'. Ain't nobody else damn fool enough t'get stuck in the likes o' me," he says wryly. "'n you?"

Leoben cleaned his plate quickly and then walked over to where Mal was sitting. He smiled sadly. "Everyone else I know seems to have switched. I guess sometimes I just get lucky."

Mal don't miss the sorrowness in his smile. He may be, accordin' to some o' the women (which ones in particular he ain't thinkin' on at the the moment) on his ship, insensitive n' such, but he don't miss much all the same. Insensitivity comes when folk don't want t' touch on things, n' Mal don't want t' not touch on things with Leoben. Ignorin' somethin' with him ain't smart, nor is it somethin' Mal'd do with him anyway.

"You don't feel so lucky though," he notes.
